Tinubu Orders Demolition of Structures on Canals By Shaka Momodu Smarting from the recent flood that sacked the Lagos metro-polis, the state Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate demolition of structures blocking various canals in the state. Armed with maps and building plans, Tinubu personally took charge of the demolition of structures on the right of way of canals and watercourses in the state in the past two days in a determined bid to stop perennial flooding. Tinubu ordered the demolition the fences of a relaxation resort on Kayode Akingbade Street, off Muri Okunola Street, on Victoria Island. He also ordered the removal of the fence of Bashorun Court, Plot 252A along the same street for encroaching the setback of the canal. Other plots hit by Monday's surprise visit to areas affected by recent flood included the premises of Caverton Marine Limited where the fence and the boy's quarters will be removed, Lagos State Water Corporation office on Aboyade Cole where the fence and the temporary structures will be demolished and the premises of the Atlantic Royal Gardens, off Solomon Close, Victoria Island where the fence will be demolished for obstructing the course of the canal that discharges water to the sea.
