Saraki Summons Health Commissioner over Doctors' Strike From Tunde Sanni in Ilorin Dissatisfied with the indefinite strike embar-ked upon by Doctors in the Kwara state owned hospitals, Governor Bukola Saraki has summoned the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Bola Olaose-bikan to his office for discussion. The Governor's actions is on the heels of an aborted attempt by the Commiss-ioner's to prevail on the medical doctors to call off the strike. Saraki, himself a medical doctor, was said to have expressed misgiving on the medical doctor's action given the support of his administration to the medical profession. Determined to find a solution to the strike, the governor also invited the Ministry's Permanent Secretary, the Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in the state, representatives of the striking doctors as well as the Head of Service. The reconciliatory meeting called by Olaosebikan on Monday was statemated as the doctors reportedly insisted on their demand. The doctors are protesting alleged non-payment of allowances and discrepancy in the salary of old and new doctors.
