'SIWES to Facilitate Technical Experience' Plateau From Funmi Peter-Omale in Jos Minister of Industry, Ambassador Magaji Mohammed, has stated that the policy thrust of the ministry on the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) was to succeed within the context of the Federal Government's resolve of a technologically driven private sector led economy. Mohammed stated this in Jos yesterday at the opening of the 9th Biennial National Conference on SIWES. Represented by Mrs. G.M. Oluwasanmi, the minister hinted of the importance the ministry attached to the programme, adding that efforts have been intensified to ensure sufficient funding for the scheme. "Due to the benefit derivable from the scheme, my ministry will not relent towards ensuring that the scheme is sufficiently funded. That was the mere reason why we strive hard to convince the ministry of finance to reverse its earlier decision not to found the programme this year," the minister said.
