NGO Wants Improved Health Status for Women Bauchi From Segun Awofadeji in Bauchi Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOM-WAN), Bauchi State chapter yesterday said it has embarked on aggressive campaign to educate the people of the state on the need to improve the health status and quality of life of the citizenry in general and that of women and children in particular. Speaking at a joint press conference organised by FOMWAN and Vision Project, an international non-governmental organisation (NGO) involved in reproductive health issues at the NUJ press centre, Bauchi, the health Secretary and Representative of FOMWAN, Hajia Habiba Damina, noted that the organisation was addressing reproductive health problems like poor access to safe motherhood services, inadequate support for reproductive health programmes by policy-makers and poor quality of reproductive services among others. Damina, who added that FOMWAN in the state was working in partnership with the Vision Project, said "FOMWAN health board is committed to the welfare of the people of Bauchi especially to improve the quality of life of women and children due to their vulnerability to the socio-economic and environmental factors."
