Plateau: We Didn't Frustrate ACF - Dariye Plateau From Funmi Peter-Omale in Jos Suspended Governor of Plateau State, Chief Joshua Dariye has described as "untrue" and "unfair" Lt-Gen. Jeremiah Useni's claim that he (Dariye) frustrated efforts by the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) to settle the crises in the state. Dariye through his Personal Assistant, Diket Plang in a press statement yesterday disclosed that Useni as a Taroh elder and stakeholder did not need to seek the ACF forum to initiate or pursue peace in Plateau. "As a stakeholder and concerned Taroh elder, Useni had every reason to initiate and pursue peace and reconciliation with the Fulanis (Wase) or Bogghoms (Kanam) and not to wait only for the ACF platform. Moreover, Useni was a member of both the Emir of Zazzau and Presidential Peace Committees. It is inconceivable that Dariye would prevent Useni from holding an ACF meeting designed for peace amongst his Taroh people, considering his standing in Taroh land." Dariye affirmed that while government has the responsibility to maintain peace and security, the ultimate desire and wish for peaceful co-existence lies in the hearts of citizens. He enjoined all stakeholders to refrain from making inflammatory statements and join hands with the sole administrator to restore permanent peace in the state. "We have suffered enough pain and untold hardships and must therefore imbibe the spirit of reconciliation and forgiveness in our hearts." The suspended governor noted that trading accusations and blames would not change the unfortunate situation that had befallen the state. "All peace loving people must join the efforts to chart the path of true reconciliation, forgiveness and tolerance," he charged.
