Tension Envelopes Glass House From Juliana Taiwo in Abuja Ahead of tomorrow's inauguration of the Committee for the restructuring of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), the staff at the Glass House are deeply worried over what lies a head with fears that about half of them would be shown the exit door. The former boss of the now defunct National Sports Commission (NSC), Alhaji Babayo Shehu, was named to head the 17-man committee towards evolving a 'functional structure' for the organisation and meet the 'challenges of modern day management'. It would be recalled that another committee set up by the Board of the NFA and headed by the President of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA), Col Joro Dogo Yabilsu had recommended that 50 per cent of the staff be sent packing. The atmosphere at the Glass House was thick with fear yesterday and the normally smiling faces were replaced with sculls. The Babayo Shehu committee is charged with looking at decree 101 of 1992 and advising on its desirability or otherwise, study of the structure of the organisation and look at the manning levels especially staff entry points and relate to their qualifications and look at the terms of engagement and report on the compliance with the Federal Character policy. The Ministry has also appointed resource persons. They are Chief Emeka Omeruah, Ikedi Isiguzo, Mr. Heinz Marotzre, Patrick Okpomo, Mitchell Obi, Patrick Ekeji, Barr Adokie Amasiameka, Segun Ode-gbami and Obong Paul Bassey. The Committee would be inaugurated tomorrow at the Minister of Sports and Social Development conference Room.
