Ohanaeze Backs Nnamani's Projects
From Emmanuel Ugwu in Enugu

Ohanaeze Ndigbo has expressed satisfaction over projects being executed by Governor Chimaroke Nnamani in Enugu State, saying that more of such projects were needed to uplift the economic and social status of Ndigbo.

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation gave the commendation yesterday after an inspection tour of some projects being executed within and outside the state capital, Enugu.

Secretary General of Ohanaeze, Col Joe Achuzia (rtd) said that Nnamani's vision in embarking on projects that have positive bearing on the lives of the people was worthy of emulation.

Achuzia, who was speaking at the permanent site of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, (ESUT) located within Ebeano City, noted that it was necessary for elected leaders to embark on projects that would outlive their tenure.

In his remarks, President of Enugu State chapter of Ohanaeze, Chief Bernard Eze said that it was heart warming that ESUT would at last be relocated to a permanent site after operating on a temporary site in the last 20 years.

Eze lamented that all past administrations in the state never thought of the need to relocate the university to a permanent site away from the congested city of Enugu, adding that if the previous administrations had put in little efforts the university would have left Enugu ever since.

He justified the inspection tour of the projects by Ohanaeze, saying that since the projects touched the lives of the people should be interested in knowing whether the projects were for real.

The entourage visited the ESUT Medical School and Teaching Hospital at Park Lane Enugu, the permanent site of the institution at Ebeano City, the dualisation project at Chime Avenue, New Haven and as the completed Nyaba Bridge.
