Twenty-nine years old Daniel Ugboma was in Court Three before Justice Alaba Marsh, when he suddenly lost his breath as he got up to move an application on behalf of his client, Yekini Balogun. The court quickly called in a nurse to try and revive Ugboma, but he gave up the ghost before he got to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital. Though, cause of the sudden death could not be ascertained immediately, speculations were rife that Ugboma might have died of cardiac arrest as sources close to Orisalade and Co. Chambers where he worked until his death insisted that he did not show any sign of sickness. According to Mr. Adetunji Orisalade, the Principal in the Chamber, “we were together until 7.00pm Wednesday in the office. We reviewed the cases involving the chamber together. He was active throughout.” The late lawyer had come to court to argue an application for the enforcement of fundamental human rights for his client, Yekini Balogun.
