NAPEP Grants N10m Loan to Ijebu- Ode Community From Cletus Akwaya in Abuja National Poverty Eradic-ation Programme (NAPEP) has approved a loan of N10 million for members of Ijebu-Ode Development Board On Poverty Reduction as part of the programme's poverty reduction schemes. National Coordinator of NAPEP, Dr. Magnus Kpakol, disclosed this yesterday when the executives of the Ijebu-Ode Development Board led by the President, Chief Adedotun Degun, called on him in Abuja. Kpakol commended the group for effective utilisation of an earlier loan facility of N15 million granted it by NAPEP, adding, their performance has proved that Nigerians could do a lot to eradicate poverty even with minimum resources. While advising the community to approach foreign donor agencies for financing of their poverty reduction programmes, Kpakol noted that the community performance has proved that the programme was not recording any success in its micro- finance facilities to the unemployed. He therefore pledged NAPEP's continued support to the group to enable it achieve its objectives. Degun had earlier said the visit was to express appreciation to the agency for assistance rendered to his community and to seek further assistance. He commended NAPEP for what he called judicious use of its finances for the purpose of poverty reduction. NAPEP had on December 18, 2002, disbursed a revolving loan facility of N15 million to the Ijebu-Ode Development Board, repayable in three years with 10 per cent interest per annum.
