NNPC Targets 30bn Barrels as Reserves From Onyebuchi Ezeigbo in Abuja Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC) has targeted 30 billion barrels as reserves for the country between 2003 and 2007. This was disclosed by NNPC Group Managing Director, Funsho Kupolokun, when he met with Algerian Minister, Dr. Chakib Khelli yesterday in Abuja during talks on a proposed Trans Saharan gas project between the two countries. "Let me also state here that there will be new licensing for oil blocks by 2005. It is going to be a fair and transparent process through an open tendering process. All we look at is that in the near future, we want to make Nigeria the hub of the offshore business in this sub-region," said Kupolokun. Khelli who led his country's delegation said his President instructed him to ensure the success of the gas project between the two countries, which he said is important because it would serve to connect two important countries in Africa.
