IBB Urged to Caution Supporters From Tunde Sanni in Ilorin A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, yesterday advised former President Ibrahim Babangida to caution his supporters who are castigating against the North-east sub-region. Jalo apparently reacting to the comment made by the Kaduna State Chairman of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Alhaji Hassan Jalo, that former military president could win the 2007 presidential election without North-east, told newsmen in Gombe that no section of the country could do without the others. According to him, the region has been relevant since the First Republic and would continue to be relevant. He said apart from the serving Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the zone had produced political heavyweights like the late Prime Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, the first Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Waziri Jalo and the first Defence Minister during the reign of Sardauna of Sokoto, Alhaji Mahmud Ribadu. Jalo explained that IBB supporters in the region such as Alhaji Bamanga Tukur and Alhaji Mahmud Waziri would not be happy with such unfortunate comments.
