British Council to Train Hausa Film Writers Jigawa From Bala Nasir in Dutse Jigawa State Peoples Demo-cratic Party (PDP)- Chairman, Alhaji Usman Atto Roni, has confirmed his party's participation in the state local government election scheduled for August 9. Speaking at an executive council meeting of the party which also served as reception of former Jigawa State governor, Alhaji Alisa'adu Birnin-Kudu into PDP, Roni also said only Birnin-Kudu has officially decamped from NDP to PDP. He said, "although Birnin-Kudu is coming to the party as a single individual, we must know that, a person of his calibre must have followership and it is natural that, these followers will go with him wherever he goes." However, rumours making the rounds in the state indicate that other influential members of the state ruling party, ANPP, are also going to PDP. These include the deposed speaker of the state's House of Assembly, Alhaji Iliyasu Dundubus and former Chairman of the State's Primary Education Board (SPEB), Alhaji Dabuwa Kirikasamma. Also denying the allegations, the state's chairman of ANPP, Alhaji Babannan Rabo Aujara said, when he first heard of the rumour, he personally went to the former Speaker, Dundubus, to confirm the story but he denied the allegation. Meanwhile, the PDP Chairman has confirmed that his party will participate in the state's local council election scheduled to take place on August 9 at an executive council meeting of the party for the election and also facilitate the reception of Ali Sa'adu to the party on Tuesday next week, Roni added.
