Yobe Gov Expresses Confidence in Soyinka's Political Future
From Toba Suleiman in Abeokuta

Former guberatorial aspirant ofthe Alliance for Democracy (AD), in Ogun State, Mr Kayode Soyinka has been advised not to allow his defeat at the last party's governorship primaries by the then incumbent governor, Chief Segun Osoba to discourage him from participating in future elections in the state.

The Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Bukar Abba Ibrahim gave the words of admonition during a courtesy visit by Soyinka toGovernment House, Damaturu.

Ibrahim, praised Soyinka, who as a journalist turned politician for his deep interest in the affairs of Ogun State, which, he said, made him to seek for the AD governorship ticket last year.

While tipping Soyinka as a future governor of Ogun State, Ibrahim pointed out that "it is a good thing that you have the interests of your people at heart and want to serve them".

"In politics you just keep on trying to get an opportunity to provide leadership for your people so as to be able to practicalise the things you want to do for them", he said.

The governor, who urged Soyinka not to give up but to keep on trying, said Soyinka's visit would contribute towards cementing the existing relationship between Ogun and Yobe States, as well as between the North-west and South-west geo-polical zones.

He, noted that the two geo-political zones belonged to the same progressives political bloc and have enjoyed close relations for over 20 years.

According to the governor, although, the North-east presently is under the control of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), there was the believe that in the not-two distant future there is going to be a serious realignment of political forces of this country.

"We are looking forward to all these exciting political developments, that will be devoid of bitterness, rancour and internal bickering he said.

"While disclosing his intention to pay a visit to the South-west later this year for the dpurposes of social interaction, the governor said he would equally use the visit to solidify the already existing relationship between his state and the South West.

Speaking earlier, Soyinka said he was in the state to see how he could use Africa Today Magazine to market the abundant investment potentials of the state to the rest of the world which, he said, depends largely on the magazine for reliable information about the African Continent.
