Globacom League: Nationale Search for Strikers

Premier League leaders Iwuanyanwu Nationale are on the lookout for highly-talented and lethal strikers to shore up their chances of maintaining the prime position they currently occupy in the league.

Team manager of the 'Naze' millionaires, Emeka Iwuagwu, told KickoffNigeria.com that the departure of the club's top three strikers, Paul Obiefule, Uzoma Igwe and Michael Ochei, for trials abroad was greatly affecting the fortunes of the club with regards to their League campaign.

"We are on the look out for quality strikers to help our chances of winning this year's league, although we don't have any players in mind at the moment. We will shop for the hottest pair of legs both within and outside the shores of our country.

"We cannot toy with this golden opportunity of returning to continental football after a decade," Iwuagwu says.

The team manager went on to say that bureaucratic bottlenecks were further delaying the five million Naira promised to the team by Imo State governor, Chief Achike Udenwa.

Meanwhile, Nationale midfielder Mbawas Mangut has stated his desire to make the attacking midfield position in the Super Eagles side his own.

Mangut, who is popularly called 'Englishman' for his deft touches on the ball and pin-point crosses, says out that his experience should give him the edge over other contenders, especially after his stints in Columbia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Japan.

"I have plenty of experience from having played in all these countries and I believe that I can do well in the Super Eagles," he says.

On the chances of his team winning the Nigerian Premier League, he says Iwuanyanwu have every chance of emerging champions, stressing that the League has improved tremendously over the past few years.
