Reorganisation imminent in Immigration By Bolaji Tunji Deputy Editor (foreign affairs)   The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) will soon undergo a major reorganisation in order to take care of perceived imbalances in appointment of officers. This is coming on the heels of the death of former Comptroller General, Lady Uzoamaka Nwizu on July 5. The reorganisation, apart from paving the way for the promotion of professional immigration officers would also facilitate the appointment of a new CG. Daily Independent reliably gathered that the reorganisation arose because of the predomination of people from a particular zone of the country in key sensitive positions in the service to the detriment of others. A source cited the sensitive commands as Rivers, Ogun, Delta, Bayelsa, Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Kano International Airport Kano, Kaduna, Borno, Lagos commands, Ikeja passport office, zone A immigration, zones E, G, Akwa Ibom, Borno commands with the latter cited as one of the busiest in the country where Nigeria shared border with Cameroun, Chad and Niger.       Copyright� 2002.
