Fayose tasks Ekiti Assembly on child’s rights bill By David Atalese Special Correspondent, Ado-Ekiti   Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has urged the state House of Assembly to expedite action on the passage of the Child’s Right Bill pending before it to enable the government implement laws on children’s rights. He made the plea in Ado Ekiti while signing the 2004 UNICEF programme implementation agreement for Ekiti State Government. He commended UNICEF for impacting positively on the lives of Ekiti people with its previous intervention programmes in four communities in Ekiti West and Oye Local Council areas. Fayose, who noted the inadequate water supply in the state in spite of the administration’s water scheme solicited UNICEF’s assistance through its water and sanitation (WATSAN) project to boost water supply in the state. Earlier, the UNICEF Assistant Representative, Mr. Roger Botralahy, disclosed that an Ekiti State - based consultant has been appointed to facilitate the prompt implementation of WES projects. Botralahy highlighted areas of possible assistance to the state government under the new agreement to include training of state and local government staff, workers at community level, provision of equipment and materials as well as cash support for activities, among others.       Copyright� 2002.
