Can Gen Obasanjo deliver Nigeria?

By Eze Amaechi Emmanuel

Email: [email protected]

Just like the biblical Israelites needed a King to lead them to wars like the other nations, so Nigerians, tired of the military juntas demanded democracy to be presided over by a civilian political Headmaster. Still, like the case of the Israelites, Nigeria suffered a serious setback because the political promises of their political Headmaster automatically went the way of the`Nigerian factors'. I remember he did mention of being a 'Messiah' sealed in Heaven and delivered here on Earth (by Satan and/or the demons?) though unfortunately unto the land of Nigeria. From that moment, violence took the place of peace and poverty that of wealth as illustrated in far- away Aguleri-Umuleri war in Anambra;  Bassambiri-Ogbolomabiri in Bayelsa, Mambilla Plateau in Adamawa; Ajegunle, Ketu in Lagos; Sagamu in Ogun State, and elsewhere.

Then that of Yelwa and Shendam bloodbath is still fresh in our memory which culminated in thousands of deaths and large-scale destruction of property, as was the case also in Kano. The Plateau crisis resulted in the  appointment of Mohammed Chris Ali as the sole administrator a classic example of killing a fly with a sledgehammer. There was also violence in Ife/Modakeke;  the massacres of Odi Village and levelling of all buildings there; the Ngige saga. What a 'messiah'? Violence was also visited on Benue State's Governor Akume, his ADC together with Chief Agom. The Governor escaped but the rest could not make it and were swallowed up like Chief(s) Marshal Harry and A.K. Dikibo. What a pity? This violence  also came in form of slow death to some members of the society suspected, perhaps, to be the enemies of this political Headmaster who were framed up and crushed. Top on the list are Chief Maurice Ibekwe, S.M.Afolabi.

The pertinent question is: Can Gen. Obasanjo deliver Nigeria'? That is the topic. He inherited the pump price of petroleum products fi-om late Gen. Sanni Abacha at the cost of N22.00 per litre of petrol, N 18.00 per litre of diesel, and N9.00 per litre of kerosene, but then, what are the prices now.

Can Gen. Obasanjo deliver Nigeria? With the bill he sent to the National Assembly to enable him clamp down on Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) - the mouthpiece of the suffering masses?  He wants to disband the labour movement because he sees it as a threat to his satanic intentions ot roasting Nigerians in King Nebuchadnezzar's furnace. He consulted his god(s) as usual as he does on critical situations and was advised by his oracle(s) to murder the NLC in cool blood.

Can Obasanjo deliver Nigeria? No way!  A man so cowardly to face challenges as demanded by his exalted office but prefers to escape into foreign lands in the name of peace mission/canvassing for investors, whenever there is crisis in the land. How can he? A malignant wanderer who forsakes Aso Rock but rather likes making a puppet show of himself. I am surprised he removed his Minister of Foreign Affairs for committing diplomatic blunders, what he himself is guilty of all the time.

A political Headmaster that is so insensitive to the plight of his subjects; a man who claimed to be at the forefront of eradication of poverty but ended up dumping his subjects mercilessly in a dungeon of snakes, scorpions, and lions. This political Headmaster acknowledged that there is too much poverty in the land but rather than finding a way to ameliorate the suffering keeps on meting untold hardship on them with the aid of his demonic agents - the Police, the Immigration, and the Customs. These agencies will rather bury imported cartons of turkey, chickens, and other edible food and drinks in mass graves and display this obnoxious act on television thereby making mockery of Government    A president who hates seeing his subjects use technological means of communication like GSM, walkie-talkie, etc, but rather encourages us to go back to the use of trado-communicative ways of disseminating information like bon fires, beating of gongs, etc. Which is why he is unbothered that GSM operators are exploiting his subjects of their hard-earned money; if not why should MTN threaten that we shall be paying fees for flashing. I hereby call on our Civilian Master General, Chief Adams Oshiomole to please rise and protect his people. God surely will reward you .

Can Obasanjo deliver Nigeria? Not at all; we have been forbidden from purchasing cars or any form of electrical / Electronics devices of any kind. Rather, we are encouraged to go back to trado- transportaion means: use of donkeys, horses, camels, crocodiles, etc which then is callous and therefore laughable.

Well, Obasanjo canif he decides to, if he means  to fulfil certain obligations such as exhibiting fairness and transparency in his political market; demonstrating incorruptible life by all standards -  which I doubt. He could if he had ignorantly siphoned our money overseas and would make public a repentant soul and hand it over to us and then turn round to compel his godfathers - IBB, Abdusalam Abubakar, Jeremiah Useni, A.K. Adisa, David Mark, Oladipo Diya, Gado Nasko, Victor Malu, Joshua Dogonyaro, the names are numerous - to do same.
