Congolese withdrawal saves U-20 team from agony By Emeka Nwani Senior Correspondent, Lagos   The Nigeria U- 20 team would have been stranded in Douala, but for the fact that the trip was called off  following the withdrawal of their Congolese opponents.  An inside source told Daily Independent that when the team got to Douala on their way to Congo, they were asked to  return home because Congo had pulled out.The news lifted the boys’ spirit as they were already apprehensive  of their fate in view of the fact that no provision was  made for their stay in Brazzaville. “You need to see the way the players celebrated on hearing the news. “Before they left the country, they had complained that they cannot play on empty stomach because the football authorities made no money available for them. “ In fact one of them said that it is good they called off the match because they would not have given their best. “ I wonder how NFA would send a bunch of players out without any money for their upkeep especially  match allowances.
