Athens bound D’Tigress squad named

D’Tigress
chief coach, Sam Vincent on Thursday in Germany named the 12-man squad for the
Athens Olympic Games basketball event.
The list sent to
Nigeria by the American coach, has a surprise entrant in the person of number
two guard, Julie Negedu.
Negedu, who fell
out with the coaching crew during the basketball event of the All Africa Games
held in Abuja was kept on the bench most of the games due to dwindling
performance.
She had to
apologise to the coaching crew before being recalled to the team that embarked
on playing tour of Germany last May.
Other members of
the team are captain Mactaben Amanchre, Nguveren Iyorhe, Rashidat Sadiq,
Mobolaji Akiode and Mfom Udoka.
Others are Joan
Onyechukwu, Taiwo Rafiu, Lydia Ogugua, Aisha Mohammed and Ugo Oha.
Meanwhile, the team is expected to participate in an
invitational tournament in Turkey before playing in the FIBA diamond tournament
in Greece, a week to the commencement of the Olympic Games.
