The Managing
Director and Chief Executive of the Lagos State Development and Property
Corporation (LSDPC), Mr. Abiodun Oki, has revealed the organisation’s
plan to embark on the development of four additional housing estates in
Lagos. He said that work on them will await the completion of preliminary
details on the proposed projects.
“The estates are to be located
in Amuwo Odofin, Oko Oba and
Keffi, while fully service plots are to be sold to the public at Ajiwe,
in Eti-Osa West Local Council area of the state. The Amuwo Odofin Estate,
already named Amuwo-Odofin Terrace II, is a joint venture project with
private participation. The site is located on an expanse of 1.27 hectares
of land, which aims at providing accommodation for both medium and high
income earners,” he said.
He continued: “The estate will
comprise 36 units of three-bedroom houses, each with service quarters
attached and laid on plots of 7.5 X 23m in clusters of four. Each unit
consists of a foyer, guest toilet, living/dining room, kitchen/store,
courtyard and terrace and boys’ room with a private toilet. The upper
floor houses a master bedroom (ensuite), two rooms with two toilets,
family living room and terrace area. The Oko-Oba III Estate is a mixed
residential development on about three hectares of land situated within
Oko-Oba area on old Abeokuta Road, Agege. This is a lower medium income
estate targeted at middle class workers and entrepreneurs. Its
development will begin in the second quarter of next year.
The LSDPC helmsman also said
that the technical details of the various estates would be announced
later.
“The estate located in Keffi
area of Obalende in Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council area is located on a
parcel of land recently acquired by the Lagos State government for the
corporation. The estate was conceived to be a residential development,
but the corporation is still awaiting the necessary approval for the
commencement of any work on the site. The service plots in Ajiwe along
Lekki-Ajah axis is located behind the Lagos State's Abraham Adesanya
Housing Estate. The Ogombo family land borders it. The plots sit on a
landmass of over 40 hectares of which about 30 hectares will be offered
to the public as serviced plots and infrastructure. To achieve a sense of
tranquillity and serenity, the estate will make provision for generous
road set backs, walkways and paved streets. The layout is to be
beautified with lush greet belts, sculptured gardens and parks," Oki
said. In the midst of moves to increase staff remuneration and enact laws
to legalise its re-engineered status, the LSDPC management disclosed that
finishing touches are being applied to the Isheri-North and Femi Okunnu
Phase Three projects. “I am pleased to announce that the Isheri-North
Estate has been finally energised by NEPA thereby making it habitable,
just as we put finishing touches to the internal roads.
“The first phase of the Femi
Okunnu Estate 3 would be ready for habitation. Shelter Afrique, the
financier of the project, has been consistently monitoring our activities
at the site and they are quite satisfied with our performance,” the LSDPC
managing director said.
