Japan Donates N384 million to Niger From Iyefu Adoba in Abuja Japanese government will provide a N384 million, (about $2.84 million) grant for the construction of classrooms in Niger State. The agreement for the grant will be signed Tuesday next week between the Economic Adviser to the President and Chief Executive of the National Planning Commission, Professor Ode Ojowu and the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Akira Matsui. Under the project titled, "Construction of Additional Classrooms for Primary Schools in Niger State," 78 classrooms in 12 schools will be constructed. A press release from the Japanese Embassy in Abuja said that the classrooms will provide access for better educational environment for at least 5 to 7,000 children. Last year, the Japanese government also made different donations worth N36.2 million for projects in various communities in Niger State.
