Presenting the Award to the IG, Senator Cosmas Nigwiam Osunbor said "this award is in recognition of his sterling leadership qualities as well as his transparent and selfless service to the nation." The Senator noted that with the rebirth of democracy in 1999 and the smooth transition from civilian to civilian administration experienced in 2003 general elections, Nigerians can heve a sigh of relief that truly, democracy has come to stay, adding that in the light of this, Encomium Ventures Limited decided to recognise and celebrate major participants who have contributed positively to the political life of this great nation. Another Senator, Alphonsus Ibe said "the most impressive thing Tafa Balogun has done was fighting to a standstill cross border banditry and nipping in the bud of high profile killings in the country."
