N25b Capital Base: Fidelity Bank Meets Lagos By Lola Adewoyin Fidelity Bank Plc will this week hold its seventh Extra Ordinary General Meeting ("EGM") to commence its phased programme for meeting the just announced increase in bank's paid up capital to N25 billion. The meeting will amongst others approve the board's recommendation of a bonus issue from reserves of one new for every four shares held by existing shareholders as well as changes to the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the bank. Speaking to newsmen at a pre-EGM press briefing in Lagos, the bank's Managing Director/ Chief Executive, Mr Reginald Ihejiahi, expressed optimism that the newly released Central Bank of Nigeria guidelines increasing shareholder's funds to N25 billion will go a long way towards changing the Nigerian Banking landscape for the better. While lauding the Central Bank's visionary leadership, he said Fidelity will be accelerating its plans in the area of capitalisation of the bank.
