Adegbite Calls for Muslims' Participation in Politics Osun From Hammed Shittu in Osogbo Secretary-General, Supre-me Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA), Alhaji Abdul-Lateef Adegbite, at the weekend called on muslims to participate actively in politics to enable them contribute their quota to the development of Nigeria. Adegbite made the appeal in Osogbo, at the pre-anniversary interactive session of Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter, to mark its 50th anniversary. He said there was no way they could bring change to the society without seeking for political power. According to him, "I want to tell you that politics is the realisation of religion, because without taking part in politics, it would be difficult to effect positive change towards the socio-economic development of the nation." He stressed that "politics is not only for service, but include active participation towards peace and progress of the country." His words "I want you to join political parties of your choice to move Nigeria forward". He called on the students to reflect on the past and work for the future development of the society so as to take Islam to greater heights.
