Drogba Set to Join Chelsea Marseille have admitted striker Didier Drogba is close to joining Chelsea. The French club have rejected an �18m bid from Chelsea, but are expected to make an announcement on the Ivory Coast star's future early next week. Marseille president Christophe Bouchet told their website: "This must happen quickly, so as not to get in the way of the preparations of both clubs. "We are heading towards Didier's departure. But you never know - nothing has been signed." Chelsea travel to the United States on Wednesday to continue their pre-season preparations. And coach Jose Mourinho insists the deals to bring Drogba and Benfica midfielder Tiago to Stamford Bridge must be completed by then or they will be called off. Marseille were determined to hold onto 26-year-old Drogba following a successful debut season last year. But they appear to have admitted defeat, with Bouchet adding: "At present the agreement is a serious probability."
