Emir of
Kano draws curtain on Kano Polo tourney

The Emir of Kano,
Alhaji Ado Bayero in company of his counter part from Katsina, yesterday at a colourful ceremony drew the
curtain on this year’s edition of the annual Kano polo tournament which
came to a close after eight days
of competitive galloping involving clubs drawn from across the
country.
While declaring the
game closed yesterday, Alhaji
Bayero thanked all those who left their businesses and offices for the
games, saying he wished them all safe trip back to their respective homes.
The Kano Polo
tournament, the third in the series
sponsored by telecommunications giants, MTN was rounded up yesterday. The Emir who
came with a large retinue of officials and palace chiefs was the special guest
of honour.
On hand to welcome
the Emir, who is also the patron to the venue of the competition was the clubs
captain, Tajudeen Dantata, the club’s President, Alhaji Aminu Alhasan Dantata and President
Nigeria Polo Association, Senator Idris Kuta
Speaking at the
closing ceremony, the captain of the club, Dantata thank every one present
including the fans who came out in their thousand to watch the
tournament. He said all areas that needed to be worked on would be looked into
to make the tournament better next time.
Others who also
witnessed yesterdays closing ceremony were the representative of the Vice President,
Atiku Abubakar, representative of Kano State Governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau and other dignitaries and company
executives. Also on hand to witness the last day’s matches was Senator
Idris Kuta.
