Kaduna Commissioner Dies in Road Accident From Agaju Madugba in Kaduna Kaduna State government at the weekend lost its Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Umaru Balarabe Kubau, in a road accident. The commissioner, who was driving himself, died in the ghastly motor accident involving his vehicle along Kaduna-Zaria road on Sunday about 7.30 p.m. The state declared yesterday a public holiday to mourn the late commissioner, who has since been buried according to islamic rites at the Unguwar Sarki cemetery. Late Kubau was one of the most visible aides of Governor Ahmed Makarfi and was believed to be nursing an ambition for the 2007 governorship race. Kubau was an architect and appointed Commissioner for Works in 1999. He was also Commissioner for Agriculture during the military administrations of Colonel Lawal Jafaru Isa and Colonel Hamid Ali, both retired.
