Disaster Victims to Receive Aid Promptly Delta From Jaiyeola Andrews in Asaba Delta State government has deviced a means of putting an end to instances where cash and relief materials meant for disasters victims are hijacked by fraudulent people. In this wise, it said victims of disaster would always be physically present to collect any form of assistance rendered to them. Dropping the hints in Asaba, while presenting N200,000 cash assistance to two victims of hoodlum's attack, Commissioner of Bureau for Special Duties, Mr. Austine Ayemidejor, also expressed sympathy of government to the two victims. The beneficiaries, Hon. Lucky Enamiriewan and Mr. Winner Bore who received N100,000 each, were victims of hoodlum's attack at Ugboton in 2002. "Let me make it clear that the gesture is neither to replace all what was lost nor a compensation for the attack, but a token of assistance to cushion the impact of the incident," Ayemidejor said. He urged beneficiaries of government assitance to always make good use of them, adding that it would not relent in its efforts at assisting victims of disasters. While responding, Hon. Enamiriewan thanked the state government for the cash assistance, adding that he was of the hope that the government welfare policy would be sustained. He, however, called on Deltans to always imbibe the spirit of peaceful co-existence, adding that it is only in a peaceful atmosphere could development thrive.
