UNIBEN VC Vows to Fight Cultism Edo From Omon-Julius Onabu in Benin-City Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Professor Emmanuel Nwanze, has said he would readily tender his letter of resignation, should there be concrete evidence that he was adopting double standards in the prosecution of the anti-cultism campaign by secretly protecting those caught. Nwanze said he was ready to quit his position as a demonstration of his total commitment to the anti-cultism campaign of his five-month old administration. He said he was honest and believe his principal officers were sincere too, when they all pledged on oath, to fight cultism in UNIBEN during the recent "UNIBEN Prays" programme of reformation. He reeled out figures to debunk claims that he exhibited ethnic bias in his recent appointment of principal officers as well as special members of the senate of the university, saying it was scandalous and mean, for anybody to whip up ethnic sentiments in purely academic matters. According to him, there were neither losers nor victors in the process that produced him as vice-chancellor, but enormous challenges abound that demanded the individual contribution of all concerned, irrespective of ethnic affiliations.
