2007: Cleric Warns Against Creating Tension Lagos By Idowu Sowunmi Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been warned not to create unnecessary tension in the polity with its posture that it would win 2007 presidency, quering the rationale behind the claim. Methodist Archbishop of Lagos, Dr. Sunday Makinde, said this yesterday shortly after the dedication of the Archbishop's new office at Wesley Cathedral Annex in Olowogbowo, Lagos. "I don't know what informs PDP that it is the only party that can win the presidency in 2007. I want other political parties to spring up and maintain equal geographical spread. Besides, PDP should stop parading itself as if Nigeria is a one-party state. Every tribe in Nigeria has the right to aspire to presidency. Who tells them that PDP wouldbe the party that will produce presidency come 2007?" he asked. Makinde expressed gratitude to God for achieving success in such a short period of time, noting that the significance of the new office is that it will serve as a catalyst for spirituality and youth evangelism, because they are the future leaders of the church. On political developments in Plateau State, Makinde said the situation is becoming normal, but cautioned the Sole Administrator, Maj. Gen. Chris Alli(rtd) not to involve himself in political permutations. "He has gone there to reconcile all warring factions.
