Goje Pays N2bn for Water Project From Saka Ibrahim in Gombe Gombe State government has paid N2 billion to the Chinese Geo Construction Company (CGC) handling the Dadinkowa regional water project. State Governor, Alhaji Danjuma Goje, who disclosed this yesterday during a courtesy call on the Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Shehu Abubakar Usman, said the project remained one of the priorities of his administration. According to Goje, the perennial water scarcity in the state capital and its environs would be over at the completion of the project in October next year. Said he, "Your Royal Highness, we are desperate to complete the Dadinkowa water project so that we can solve the water problem in Gombe and its environs once and for all." He reiterated his administration's commitment to construct good motorable roads in Gombe and other local government areas. He said since the state was created in 1996, there had been no development and that his government is ready to reverse the trend. "We want Gombe to develop like other states in the country. People still believe Gombe is a big village." The emir, in his response, thanked the governor for living up to expectation since he was elected a year ago, especially for trying to solve the problem of water scarcity in the state.
