AD Chief Canvasses Electronic Voting System From Hammed Shittu in Osogbo A Chieffain of Alliance fo Democracy (AD) in Osun State, Hon. Niyi Owolade has called on members of the National Assembly to start discussing without further delay, the idea of introducing electronic voting system to be used for future elections in the country. Owolade in a statement issued in Osogbo, said this would go a long way in gruaranteeing free and fair election in the country. According to him, "the idea of electrunic voting system in the nation's polity will not only obbiterate some of the past anti democratic stance but also keep the restive military at bay permanently". "A free and fair election is the hallmark of a free democratic society and the only way out of this is to have an electronic voting system," he maintained. Owolade, a former Commissioner for Works and Transport in the state during Chief Bisi Akande regime added that the National Assembly should consider the issue in its merit and deliberate on it without further delay. He stressed that "for Nigeria to be part of the civilised world, it is essential that we get our electoral process right". The AD Chieftain noted that, "the use of Electronic voting system would also go a long way in positioning Nigeria in the comfortable heavens of the country of the civilised nation". He therefore appealed to National Assembly members to start working on the idea of electronic voting system in order to put an end to the what he described as the undue and shameful rigging and manipulation of election results in the country.
