In a bid to get a
credible candidate for the position of Super Eagles Manager, the Nigeria
Football Association (NFA), says it has reached out to world football governing
body, FIFA for a dossier on top coaches in its file for consideration.
An NFA source told Daily
Independent Tuesday in Lagos
that the development
becomes imperative
following the heated controversy that the
issue of Jean Ahmadu Tigana
generated in football
circles.
“We did not
approach Tigana, he was the one who approached us and we were happy that a man
of such calibre was on our list only to hear the man saying
he never contacted anybody regarding the job issue. Already, NFA insiders say Secretary General,
Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi has been told to get back to the manager who introduced
Tigana to the NFA in a bid to avoid the embarrassment that the NFA has had in the past few days. There were
also indications that the NFA technical committee meeting may come earlier than
scheduled as the body battles to steady the ship of football administration in the country. The meeting may come up today
NFA chairman,
Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima has, meanwhile, insisted that the NFA will pick only
the best candidate for the job, noting that wide consultations have commenced
with stake holders of the sport in a bid to get the best coach for the Super
Eagles.
