The new Executive Chairman of Plateau State Board of
Internal Revenue, Mr. Shehu Pukat, has challenged the state zonal revenue
officers to work round the clock to ensure that the revenue target of N1.2
billion set by the state government for the board this year is achieved at the
end of the year. Pukat, who
made this known in Jos at his first meeting with the zonal officers of the State
Revenue Board said the target is a
serious challenge to all the workers in the board.
He further disclosed that the new strategy of the board is
to embark on aggressive revenue generation campaigns on Direct Income
Assessment Tax, PAYE, road taxes and other sources of revenue. The revenue
officers said they were ready to
work hard to realise the set target
but lamented that the un-co-operative attitude of some federal
establishments in the state towards the remittance of their taxes to the board
was one of their major set-backs which the new chairman must look into
seriously.
