Nigerian clinic gets Africa's first certification
From Omono Omaigho

A NIGERIAN specialist fertility centre has bagged the TUC CERT Certification EN ISO 9002: 2000, thus becoming the first clinic in Africa to be so honoured.

It was given by the certification body of Austria to the Bridge Clinic, Lagos, in recognition of its "expertise in deploying latest technology in management of fertility among couples especially in the area of instituting quality management system (QMS), through assisted reproduction, including stimulation, follicular function, Cryo preservation and donor sperm bank services."

Reacting to the development, the clinic's Managing Director, Dr. Richardson Ajayi said it has worked assiduously following all due processes to earn the certification from the international body.

He noted that while ISO certification may not be new to the manufacturing sector in Africa, it is entirely new to service organisations.

Throwing more light on the TUV certification, the clinic's Marketing and Business Development Manager, Dr. Simbi Dabiri, said the TUV CERT is awarded every three years during which the clinic is required to continually improve on the quality of its service delivery, focusing on the eight principles of quality management which includes customer service satisfaction, developing leadership qualities, team work and process approach to work, systematic approach to management, factual approach to decision making and creating a mutually beneficial supplier relationship.
