IG Stresses Need for Secured Business Environment By Yemi Akinsuyi Inspector General of Police, Tafa Balogun has declared that it is only in a safe environment that business and economic activities thrive. In a release signed by the Force Public Relation Officer, Chris Olakpe, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Balogun made this declaration in Abuja, when he played host to the Managing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Chief Festus Odimegwu. Balogun noted that democracy is synonymous with the rule of law and that there would be no rule of law without the police, as he commended Odumegwu for the efforts his company has made to create jobs. "The Nigeria Police and Nigerian Breweries are partners in the effort to move the country forward", Balogun said, enjoining Odumegwu to always call on the police for assistance, pointing out that the force prtects public and private sectors. Odimegwu said the IGP was among 100 people recognised by his company for their excellent and outstanding performance in their chosen field of endeavour, and he commended him for the professionalism and commitment he has brought to bear on the force, adding that Balogun"s anti-corruption crusade and the eight-point strategy, have impacted positively on the overall performance of the force.
