NDE Begins Registration of Unemployed Persons From John Iwori in Yenagoa In a concerted effort to stem the rising cases of youths roaming the streets seeking for non existent job, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has finalised plans to take statistics of all unemployed persons. The exercise, which is earmarked for unemployed youths, women, retirees, matured people and graduates in several disciplines, would enable the directorate to commence job creation opportunities. These include the national open apprenticeship scheme (skills acquisition), Rural Agricultural Development Training Scheme (RADTS), Environmental Beautification Scheme (EBS), and Start Your Own Business (SYOB). Co-ordinator of NDE in Bayelsa State, Pastor Steve S. Musa, who disclosed this to THISDAY yesterday enjoined those interested in the various schemes to report and register at the directorate office in the state. Besides four recent passport photographs and photocopies of credentials, those who wish to register in the scheme will also provide their local government area identification letters. While urging the unemployed to take advantage of the opportunity, Musa said NDE would ensure that the objective of establishing the directorate was fulfilled in the oil and gas rich state. According to him, several schemes in the directorate have been earmarked for the benefits of specific target groups which are aimed at providing a means of livelihood to those who could not be gainfully employed in government ministries and parastatals.
