Specialist Clinic Gets ISO Certification A specialist fertility centre, The Bridge Clinic, Lagos, has bagged the TUV CERT Certification EN 1SO 9001: 2000 from the TUV CERT Certification body of TUV Austria, thus becoming the first clinic in Africa to be so honoured. The certification was given to the clinic in recognition of its expertise in deploying latest technology in management of fertility among barren couples, especially in the area of instituting Quality Management System (QMS) through assisted reproduction, including stimulation, follicular punction, Cryo preservation and donor sperm bank services. Briefing the media in Lagos, Managing Director of the Clinic, Dr Richardson Ajayi, said the clinic has worked assiduously, following all due processes to earn the certification from the international standard body. This feat, he believes, has placed the clinic in the fore of fertility management within the African continent and beyond. He said while 1SO certification may not be new to the manufacturing sector in this part of the world, it is entirely new to service organisations. Explaining the clinic's preparedness for the challenges ahead, Ajayi said quality management involves lots of activities which the clinic has also tried to standardise in all aspects. This includes staff training both local and overseas, to ensure adequate hands-on experience and continuous up date on latest technology. Ajayi said all equipment in the clinic are calibrated regularly to ensure proper functioning, noting also that it costs the clinic a fortune to do this as some are done outside Nigeria by specialists and certificates issued for a defined period.
