FG Tasked on Excess Oil Revenue
Lagos
By Timothy Okwu

National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), has appealed to the Federal Government to make judicious use of the excess revenue generated from the sales of crude oil in the international market to implement its socio-economic policies so as to improve the lives of the people.

Speaking at a press conference in Lagos, the President of the association, Mr Tony Nwoye, said that if the Federal Government does not make judicious use of this excess fund generated from oil, the masses would continue to suffer and the condition of the country's social infrastructure would remain in a sorry state.

According to Nwoye for the government to show that they truly care for the people, it should put in place social infrastructure that would improve the lives of the people and enhance national development.

Highlighting the menace of cultism in the tertiary institutions, the NANS President explained that some highly placed members of the society are sponsoring these cultists. He advised the Federal Government to to establish a special commission that would fight against cultism and violent crimes on campuses.

The association however issued a two-week ultimatum to the management of the University of Ilorin to recall the expelled ten students union leaders of the institution who were involved in the last struggle against the ten thousand naira bed space fee or face opposition from the association. "At the expiration of this two-week grace, NANS might be forced to embark on political action to actualise the dream," he stressed.
