Njoku Disputes Goals' Tally Kwara United FC of Ilorin's mercurial midfielder Daniel Njoku has challenged the NFA to clarify his goals tally with the referees that have handled his team's matches. 'Peugeot', as he is fondly called, appeared bemused when informed that the top scorers in the Premiership this season, by NFA's records, have not scored more than seven goals. "Their record is unacceptable. I have kept count of all my goals from the start and have scored 11 goals, no more, no less. If they want me to produce the log of these matches, I am prepared to do so, but they should at least cross-check their records with the referees," he said. "The last goal was the penalty against Dolphin on Saturday. Perhaps they did not include the hat- trick I scored against Wikki about two weeks ago." Njoku regretted the mayhem that followed his team's 2-2 draw with Dolphin, but dismissed fears they would experience a free-fall in the Premiership, as was the case in 1999 when Kwara were relegated after leading with a wide gap of 11 points following an incidence of violence in Ilorin. "I have never supported violence in football and condemn what happened on Saturday. It was beyond the players' control and we wish it had never occurred. "But there is no way it can lead to our down-fall. It was unfortunate, and we should all put it behind us," Njoku said.
