BMA 2004: Organisers extend
deadline

To ensure a
successful and all-embracing awards, organisers of the prestigious
Brandfaces Marketing Awards
(BMA) have fixed a new date for the submission of entry for this
year’s edition.
August 6, Daily Independent learnt, was fixed,
following appeal for extension by agencies, which requested for time to
put together creative and other materials preparatory to the awards
proper.
According to the Managing
Director of Chris Parks Marketing Solution, Mr. Chris Parks, one of the
organisers, the extension was agreed upon because of the resolve to have
a first class and globally recognised event this year, which is
occasioned by BMA’s alliance with Loerie of South Africa.
The BMA, which made its debut
last years, has been acclaimed by industry pundits for placing marketing
on a higher pedestal by exposing crucial areas, such as creativity and
method of presentations. A workshop on the mode of entry was held
penultimate week to educate agencies on the mode of entry.
A unique feature of this
year’s award is that each category has a grand prix for exceptional work,
which will be entered through the BMA. This allows the grand prix winners
to automatically qualify for the Loeries and the need not to go through
the preliminaries. The grand prix, according to Parkes, “is to add value to what we are
doing.”
There are 24 categories in
this year’s award. The categories include, Best Multi-Disciplined
Promotional Campaign, Best Use of Advertising, Best Use of Direct
Marketing, Best Use of Innovative Communication Strategy, Best Use of New
Media and Best Activity Generating Brand Trial and Awareness, among
others.
Meanwhile, with a budget four
times the size of last year’s, the organisers said they are ready for the
challenges that lie ahead in making the BMA a world-class event.
