Ebonyi Decries Paucity of Data From Chinedu Eze in Abakaliki Ebonyi Sate Governor, Dr Sam Egwu, has expressed regret that Nigeria does not have accurate and acceptable data since the colonial times and this he said has affected appropriate planning by government, especially in the provision of social services to the people. Speaking during the inauguration of Ebonyi State sub-committee of National Population Commission (NPC) in Abakaliki, Governor Egwu said that it was cheering news that NPC has started making serious and adequate preparation to ensure that the next head count in the country would be reliable and credible. Egwu also said that the launching of the public enlightenment campaign and the on-going enumeration area demarcation (EAD) exercise were honest ways of restoring the confidence of the people in the exercise, noting that plugging all loopholes, that could put the credibility of the actual exercise to question was very necessary. He therefore urged the members of the committee to be highly innovative, resourceful and most importantly honest and patriotic in the discharge of their duties. Egwu emphasised the need that people should be educated and enlightened on the relevance of submitting themselves for the forthcoming census exercise and to give out the required information as may be required from them for overall national consideration."
