    Nasarawa hands over mission school

    PATRICK ODEY, Lafia

NASARAWA State government has finally bowed to pressure to hand over missionary schools to their owner as it voluntarily handed over our Lady of Apostles Secondary School, Akwanga to the Lafia Catholic Church.

The Catholic Bishop of Lafia Diocese, Dr. Matthew Ishaya Audu, who disclosed this while receiving the Catholic Media Practitioners Association in his office said the development marked a new beginning in the provision of qualitative education and a confirmation that God had answered the prayers for the return of mission schools.

He assured that with the prayers being offered in Catholic Churches across the state, the state government would eventually relinquish the ownership of all the schools to the missionary.

The bishop who called on Catholic journalists to see their election as God’s ordained urged them to work towards peace and stability of not only the state but the nation as whole, saying that as media representatives in their own rights they are in the right position to promote the image of the country.

He therefore, promised a befitting communication office and sponsorship of radio programmes of the Catholic Media Practitioners Association.

Earlier in her speech, the President of Catholic Media Practitioners Association, Mrs. Patricia Akawu, explained that they were in his office to express their appreciation and solidarity to the bishop for the celebration of his 20th anniversary of priesthood and three years of bishophood.

He commended the bishop for his commitment to peace and stability of the state and his contribution to the resolution of the crisis that engulfed Nasarawa-South senatorial districts through powerful prayers which is still being offered in Catholic Church across the state.
