Verbal Attacks on Govs Dangerous - Kure From Jide Orintunsin in Minna Governor Abdulkadir Kure of Niger State has described the recent casting of aspersions on the integrity of state governors over every conceivable misdemeanour, as a dangerous and destructive enterprise. Apparently reacting to the increasing spate of verbal attacks on the executive arm of state governments, over the local government administration, Kure noted that the new vogue of casting aspersions on governors, "will serve nobody any good." Speaking in a statewide radio and television broadcast at the weekend over the face-off that ensued between the Federal Government and other states (Niger State inclusive), over the creation of new local government councils, the governor called for a ceasefire in the attack on state chief executives. Kure who read politics to the attacks, noted that the barrage of aspersions have to do with political calculations ahead of the general elections in 2007. He also argued that the attacks were deliberately designed to whittle down the influence of governors in their states. The governor then enjoined those in the habit of casting aspersions on their leaders to be cautious. "It is obvious for those who can see that it (attack) is a dangerous and destructive enterprise.
