2007 Polls: Middle Belt Youths Defend Ogbeh From Cletus Akwaya in Abuja The Middle Belt Youth League at the weekend accused the Ohaneze Youth Forum of launching a campaign of "calumny and blackmail" against Chief Audu Ogbeh, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Also, the League, which is the youth wing of the Middle Belt Forum distanced Ogbeh from the lingering political crisis in Anambra state as well as the recently settled feud between the Governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu and Acting Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Chief Tony Anenih. A youth group, Ohanaeze Youth Forum had in paid advertisements in two national dailies last week accused Ogbeh of fueling the Anambra crisis and the face-off between Kalu and Anenih as well as the non- functioning of democratic structures in the local governments in Anambra and Abia states. The Forum then threatened to combat and challenge Ogbeh on the issues.�� But the acting National President of the Middle Belt Youth League, Comrade Mtom Aondona, who spoke to newsmen accused the Forum of hatching a plan to smear the PDP Chairman for political reasons. Aondona noted that although the absence of democratic structures in the local governments of Abia and Anambra states was regrettable, the situation could not be blamed on Ogbeh since the administration of the councils was within the purview of the Houses of Assembly of the two states and not the direct responsibility of the PDP Chairman.
