NBC Boss Commends Daniel Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State has been commended for his initiative to connect the state to the internet. The Director General, National Broadcasting Commission, Dr Silas Yisa gave the commendation recently at a dinner organised by the state government for the Director-General and his team who were in Abeokuta for their quarterly management meeting. Yisa who assured that adequate support would be given to the government in its quest to take the state's television station, OGTV, to satellite, added that the evaluation team was still assessing programmes being aired by the station. He expressed optimism that OGTV would emerge successful after the six months assessment period because of its quality programmes and presentation, adding that three other stations were being screened along with the station. Responding, Daniel pointed out that the name OGTV would be changed to Gateway Television in order to enhance wider coverage and reposition the station for better efficiency. According to him, since the role of the media to ensure effective and successful hosting of the Gateway 2006 Sports Festival in the state cannot be over-emphasised, it is imperative for the NBC to give necessary support to the government so as to achieve the desired success before, during and after the fiesta.
