'OGROMA Established to Combat Corruption' Ogun From Toba Suleiman in Abeokuta Ogun State government has said the establishment of the Ogun State Road Maintenance Agency (OGROMA), in road construction was aimed at curbing unnecessary wastages and corruption associated with the award of contracts. Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sarafa Tunji Isola, said this while featuring as a special guest on a television programme, in Lagos. According to him, the Agency was set up at the inception of the present administration, not only to repair damaged roads, but also to open up roads for the generality of the masses. He noted that the on-going Sagamu-Abeokuta road project would be a model, and, the best road network in Nigeria when completed. Isola said OGROMA was meant to showcase the quality of indigenous engineers in the state. He emphasised that project undertaken by the present administration employ focus, in consonance with its philosophy of employment for all. The SSG said the state Emplo-yment Generation Programme was meant to create employment to fight poverty and reduce crime among youth. According to him by year 2007, more than 200,000 jobs would have been created, especially for teaming young school leavers. He disclosed that the transformation being experienced in the state presently was based on the advise of the World Bank, saying that the best way a responsible government could maintain road network was to set up a Road Maintenance Agency.
