National Orientation Agency (NOA) Ogun State Chap-ter and the Justice, Development and peace Commission (JDPC), of the Catholic Mission, Ijebu Ode are to Organise "Peoples Parley" between elected official and the electorate on the performances of all the political office holders in the state.

NOA state Director, Mr Sola Babalola disclosed this during a press briefing jointly organised by his Agency and JDPC at JDPC Hall, Ijebu-Ode.

According to him, the programme tagged "Peoples Parley", was designed to promote dialogue between electorate and the elected officers on a continuous basis.

He said the state-wide grassroots stewardship-Accountability fora was also expected to build people's capacity to participate effectively in governance.

He explained that the programme which would take NOA/JDPC Orientation campaign team to all the 20 local government areas of the state would kick off in Ogun East Senatorial district.

He said the team would take its campaign to the governor, speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Local government chairmen and other key stakeholders in the state.

The NOA boss explained further that besides, other targets of the campaign fora would include traditional rulers, leaders and members of the Community

Development Association (CDA). "Youth/Women organisations, Market Men/Women, Farmers

groups, Political parties, the private sectors and the professional groups will also be visited", Babalola said.

According to the Agency director, the next phase of the fora would involve interface sessions where public officeholders would present their stewardship account to the people in all the 20 local government areas of the state.

While calling on members of the public to be fully involved in the programme, Babalola sought the assistance of the media and the civil society for the programme to ensure good governance and effective service delivery to the masses of the state.

While lauding NOA for partnering with his commission, the JDPC Director, Rev. Father John Patrick Nwoye noted that the collaboration would boost the acceptability of the programmes and break other likely official bottlenecks.
