Saraki Tasks FRSC on Okada Operators Kwara From Tunde Sanni in Ilorin Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State has called on the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) to organise regular training and enlightment campaign for Okada operators as a means of reducing intra-city accidents. Speaking while receiving the Zonal Commanding Officer of the FRSC in charge of Kwara, Kogi and Ekiti states, Alhaji Baba Goni, Saraki lamented the upsurge in the rate of intra city accidents involving commercial motorcyclists and their passengers. Commending the spirit behind the establishment of FRSC the Governor noted that the coming of the commission has saved precious lives that could have hitherto been lost to road carnages. He reiterated government's plans to start motorcycle assembly in Ilorin and assured that the assembly plant would also be extended to other senatorial districts of the state. According to him, motorcycles assembled at the plant would be distributed to interested buyers on loan with a view to empowering them, adding that the motorcycle gesture would be extended to the junior cadre of the civil services in the state. The governor directed both the Secretary to the State Governor and the Information and Home Affairs commission to meet with the FRSC representatives and work out modalities for approving their requests on the command relocation so as to facilitate their early operations in the state. Saraki commended the FRSC officials for relocating the zonal command office to the support of the administration in facilitating its early and smooth take off.
