Monarch Commends LSWC
Lagos
By Ndubuisi Ugah and Tunyosola Ayansiji

Oluepe of Epe, Oba Balogun Agbaje has commended the Lagos State Water Corpo-ration (LSWC) for initiating the Private Support Programme (PSP) and the House-to-House Re-enumeration which he said would go a long way to resolve the recurring water problems in the state.

Oba Agbaje, said the introduction of the exercise will not only correct the corporation's database and billing system, but would also go a long way to assure the masses on the various services rendered by the parastatal.

He said that LSWC, as a parastatal saddled with providing potable water to Lagosians was doing its best, hence the need to support the various policies evolved by the organisation in meeting the water demands of the residents.

"It is a fact that what the water corporation is doing towards providing potable water is worth commending and that is why I strongly support the moves it is making to achieve this mission despite the various problems it is facing, he stressed.

While assuring that he would strive to ensure that the people co-operate with the corporation in areas of payment of rates, reporting of vandalised and pipelines, burst pipes and leakages, the Monarch added that plans were already in motion to complement the corporation's efforts in getting the masses enlightened where such issues arise.

According to him, "we appreciate the work being done by the water corporation in making us get water but I can assure you that we are also making efforts to get the people understand what it takes to get this water supplied to them".

In a related development, the LSWC has disclosed that all parties involved directly or indirectly in the production and consumption of water are stakeholders, thus making every member of the society a stakeholder.

The organisation in a statement signed by the corpoartion's General Manager, Olushayo Holloway, said in achieving the water demands of Lagosians, the stakeholders' were divided into three comprising the Federal/State Governments, Consumers, Private Investor, Capital and Financial Markets.
